Round 10

Triumphant afternoon for Wigmen

The hot Port Moresby heat did not deter the Wigmen in the Digicel Cup round 10 competition.

Less than 3 minutes into the game and Daniel Tapol flew over the Muruk’s tryline, registering the first score for the round 10 match.

A successful conversion by Stanley Olo saw the Wigmen lead with 6 points.

7 minutes later, Benjamin Hetra shouldered past 3 Muruks defenders for another try.

The Muruks responded a few minutes later with a try of their own. Unfortunately, an unsuccessful conversion by Warren Glare left the score at 12-4.

Wins to Wigmen, Vipers and Gurias

In Port Moresby, Wigmen def. Bintangor Goroka Lahanis 18-14 and Vipers def. Lae Snax Tigers 38-12.

Across to Kokopo, Gurias def. Waghi Tumbe 26-10.

The match in Wabag between EPG Enga Mioks and PRK Mendi Muruks did not go ahead today due to election related violence.

Wigmen hold off Lahanis

Tries in the first half to Charlie Buka and Amos Kafare gave the Lahanis a 10-6 lead at half time.

The Wigmen's only four pointer came from McKenzie Kei.

The Hela boys found their rhythm in the second half and pushed to the lead after Junior Rau and Towari Kenake crossed over.

The Lahanis never gave up and fought their way back into the contest ten minutes out from full time with another try to Buka.

But the Wigmen were equally determined for the two points and held on until the full time siren.

The man of the match was awarded to Kenake.
