PNG Mixed and Men's Netball Association

Trials for mixed netball next month

The trials are scheduled to start Saturday 28 April at the Sir John Guise Indoor Stadium and will conclude on Sunday 29 April at Rita Flynn Indoor Courts.

“We are expecting a lot of people to tryout out for the squad and are looking to select 45 to train until July where the final teams will be announced for the Trans Pacific Cup,” said President, Adam Parker.

“A high well developed level of skill is expected from the females that come to trial as this is international level netball and mixed and men’s international rivals women’s international standards.

Plans to spread mixed and men’s netball across PNG

“I’m based in Goroka so am working with the Goroka Netball Association to actually include mixed netball as part of their regular netball season, said President, Adam Parker.

“This is to encourage more women to play, not men, women. Because there’s a lot of women there that don’t play netball, but mixed netball is one of those sports that encourages more people to play- whether it’s male or female.

Parker said he will be presenting the format of mixed netball to all the presidents of the different centres at next year’s netball national championships.
