Police apprehend one more escapee

Police in Madang have apprehended another prisoner who escaped from Beon on November 28.

Police stated that Jordan Sau from Yanchen Village in East Sepik was convicted by the National court on July 14 2022, to serve 12 years in prison for arson and burglary.

The police report stated that after Sau escaped, he was hiding out at Kerema Compund/Independence Drive when police conducted a dawn raid on Monday December 12 and apprehended him. He was escorted to Jomba police station and is now detained there.

Sau will be charged for escaping lawful custody.

This newsroom confirmed that two of the 22 escapees surrendered last week; Masta Muli and Victor Siwi. With Sau’s apprehension, 19 remain at large.

Acting Beon Jail Commander Chief Inspector Copen Palom added 19 still out there are Joel Otariv, Genesis Simba, Korekio, Daniel, Adam Daniel, Dodi Daniel, Batla Mahen, Sylvester Womandre, Ferdanan Waru, Kwaram Bala, Peter Karababo, Malewa Mandar, Robin Tomai, Andare Pap, Tongu Moli, John Alois, Paya Thomas, Rosang Basuk, Aipi Paul and Eddy Mori.
