New High School to cater for Labuta’s students

A new high school for Labuta LLG in the Nawaeb District of Morobe will cater for the increasing number of students from the area. This is the assurance of Morobe Governor Ginson Saonu.

Governor Saonu said after three years of assessment in the area, they saw that the area has an increasing number of students and therefore has been putting a lot of strain on existing high schools such as Nawaeb Lutheran High School, Bumayong Lutheran Secondary School and Boana High School.

Governor Saonu said in the Morobe 2022 provincial budget, a funding allocation will be made to establish ground works, school site and infrastructure for the new institution to be built.

“Under my leadership education is a priority and increasing the capacity of areas to cater for more students into the Education System is paramount,” Governor Saonu said.

Labuta High School will be a partnership of Nawaeb District Development Authority.

“We have allocated K800,000 towards Boana High School to elevate its infrastructure to cater for quality education purposes and similar we have allocated K400,000 towards Nawaeb Lutheran High School as well,” said the governor.

Governor Saonu said more funding will be given to the named high schools under the Morobe Province Education Infrastructure Grants towards all Secondary/ High Schools/ TVET/ FODE Institutions in Morobe Province.

The Morobe Province Education Infrastructure Grants is an initiative of Governor Saonu that is focused to produce quality education facilities for all Secondary/ High Schools/ TVET/ FODE Institutions in the province. The program was initiated in 2021 and is set to be made a policy with Provincial Executive Council endorsement soon to be continued for the next 20 years.
