ENB proudly welcomes Dr Marat

Member for Rabaul, Dr Allan Marat, was given a grand welcome by the people of East New Britain when he arrived at Tokua Airport yesterday afternoon.

Upon his arrival, Marat was welcomed by choirs and singsing groups, where he was escorted into the main airport lobby.

He gave his speech at the front of Tokua Airport where crowds of people waited outside to catch a glimpse of the Open member’s arrival.

Marat acknowledged the students who were early to prepare everything for his arrival, adding that education will be one of the top priorities for his district.

He said being one of the opposition, they trusted him by nominating him to be Speaker of Parliament but the other side nominated theirs as well, hence Job Pomat is the new Speaker of Parliament and that is fine.

“We have a very strong opposition team in place but for now it is too early to say anything. We will wait and see.”

Traffic in Rabaul came to a stand as the member was paraded through town in celebration of his arrival back into the province.

Residents of Rabaul said they were proud that Marat had taken a bold stand against all odds, adding that the Open member will have their support through his term in parliament.
