Commitment and time management

Commitment and time management are important in a noble field such as nursing.

This message was clearly articulated to the badging students of the Lutheran School of Nursing today by the school principal, Vitus Amugar.

52 students received their badges, along with their attainment certificate, from the school.

Lutheran School of Nursing in Madang is considered one of the best of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in PNG.

Today's badging of the 15th Diploma in General Nursing saw 41 students receive their badges and the 13th badging of the Bachelor of Clinical midwifery another 11, taking a step closer to joining the nursing workforce in the country.

While congratulating the outgoing class of 2017, Amugar had an important advice: "Always ask for second opinion. Don't act like you know it all because you are dealing with human lives."

The students recited the Nightingale pledge witnessed by the audience.

"With loyalty will I endeavor to aid the physician in his work, and devote myself to the welfare of those committed to my care."

Amugar reminded them to stay true to the profession.

He also expressed confidence in them.

"I am not afraid to say that you were given the best education. Remember, sky is the limit. So go out there and make the best of all opportunity," he said.

School president Michael Kabilo, in response, thanked everyone who played a part in their lives.

He reiterated the words of the school principal.

"Do not be concerned with your reputation. Instead, be concerned about your character because your character is what you really are."

The students will be graduating in March 2018 with the Divine Word University, as its affiliate institute.
