Vanimo still on power load shedding

Residents of Vanimo in the West Sepik Province will continue to face electricity interruption due to the current load shedding conducted by supplier, PNG Power Ltd (PPL).

PPL in a statement said that the load shedding will continue for an indefinite period until the two out of service generators are fixed. 

Electricity for Vanimo is generated and supplied by two PPL generators and a leased generator from Aggreko.

“One of the PPL generators has a major technical fault and is undergoing maintenance.

“The leased generator from Aggreko had a technical fault and will be removed from Vanimo.

 “Currently, PPL Vanimo is able to supply 550 kilo watts (KW) and priority will be given to the hospital and Vanimo township,” PPL statement stated. 

 The load shedding started on December26, 2015.

PNG Power advises business houses and customers with standby generators to assist by leaving their generators running.
