Unitech set to resume classes on August 29

The PNG University of Technology will officially resume classes on August 29 and end on December 9 this year.

In a statement, the Academic Board says in the re-opening plan, students are expected to arrive on campus on August 24.

“Registration for semester one begins from August 25 to 26, revision of semester one will be for two weeks from August 29 to September 11 and semester one exams begin on September 12, for a week.”

The board says semester two begins on September 26 and semester two exams will begin on December 2 to 9.

“The university management is in dialogue with the police and renowned security firms about operational arrangements, risks analysis and security plans which will be accompanied by the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Lae Police and PNGUoT in mid-August,” the statement reads.

“Repairs are also being carried out on the student dormitories and are expected to be completed by August, in time for students to arrive at the campus.

“Also, a sub-committee has been established to coordinate mediation and reconciliation, which will involve the National Government, the affected parties and the office of the governors of Southern Highlands, Enga and Morobe.”

The reconciliation ceremony for PNGUoT students has been tentatively set for September 16, says the board.

Students are asked to contact the Students Admissions Office on phone 473 4283 or 473 4445 for any queries.
