PMMI building closure notice lifted

The Pacific MMI Building in Down Town, Port Moresby is now fit for occupancy.

Mineral Resources Development Company (MRDC), the owner of the building in a statement said: “The NCDC Health Inspectors last Friday inspected PMMI Building and to their satisfaction issued a clearance notice lifting the condemnation on the building.”

The building was issued an indefinite closure notice on Friday January 8 by the town authority because the air conditioning system of the building broke down creating unpleasant and non-conducive working environment, posing health concerns for tenants and the general public at large.

“MRDC identified the problems in the AC system through its current upgrade program and was in the process of replacing the entire system before the ‘closure notice’ was served,” MRDC Managing Director Augustine Mano said.

“Upon receipt of the closure notice, MRDC immediately met with the NCDC Health Inspectors and updated them on the cause of action already undertaken by the company to rectify the problem.

“MRDC also met with the tenants of PMMI to keep them informed throughout the rectification work on the building. With the concerted effort of our contractors, we have now fully restored the air conditioning system at the PMMI building.

“The building is now safe and conducive for tenants and the general public. We take this opportunity to thank the NCDC Health Team, our valued tenants, the contractors and our stakeholders for your understanding, support and confidence in MRDC’s ability to address this problem.”
