No blackouts during FIFA U20 World Cup games says PNG Power

There will be no power disruption during the duration of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup to be staged in Port Moresby.

That is the guarantee given by PNG Power Chief Executive Officer Chris Bais during the announcement of the company’s sponsorship to the staging of the soccer world cup, on Friday October 28, 2016.

There will be 32 matches played from November 13 – December 3, only in the nation’s capital.

Bais announced that the company’s sponsorship amounting to K1. 5 million will cover electricity for the nine training fields and also the games venues.

PNG Football Association President David Chung when thanking the State-owned company for supporting the FIFA sanctioned event said uninterrupted power supply is a bonus in running the games.

“The sponsorship portrayed that you play a role in community development not only providing electricity,” Chung said.

PNG Power is the third national supporter of the U20 Women’s World Cup; the two others are Air Niugini and Telikom.
