Gobe PDL 4 chairman calls for unity within LO groups

A chairman of the Gobe PDL 4 in Southern Highlands Province is calling on the 21 ILG leaders in the area to unite and work together to bring development to their people.

Kerry Duku, who is the coordinator of the Sowolo Haporopake clan, made this call while welcoming the Supreme Court’s decision, which has ordered a Land Titles Commission resolution.

Duku called on all disputing parties to come together and find a compromise.

“I appeal to all landowners from PDL 3 and 4 in Gulf and Southern Highlands provinces to accept the decision and let us collaborate and put our submissions together to the Land Titles Commission for an endorsement, for us to be paid all the unpaid royalties, equities and other outstanding payments that were not paid during 25 years of prolonged court battles.”

The Gobe PDL 4 chairman, under his Andai Incorporated Land Group and Gobe Main, warned however that if the land dispute was taken back to the Land Titles Commission, it would be like fighting a losing battle.

“It will take us another 40 years or so to solve this issue and by then, all the resources we are fighting for will be gone and we will look like fools and will only have ourselves to blame,” Duku said.

The Gobe Main PDL 4 chairman said the PDL 4 Gobe Main covers a wide area with different land regions and licensed areas, as a result, “we have been denied our rights to participate in benefit from the spin-off business opportunities, delays in royalties, equities and benefits”.
