Gaire Village to mark Independence with gospel fiesta

Gaire Village in the Central Province will come alive to celebrate Papua New Guinea’s 41st Independence with an inter-denominational gospel fiesta.

The five-day celebration will commence on September 13-17 with the theme ‘United with one mind, let us restore and declare God’s sovereignty’.

The denominations involved include United Church, The Salvation Army, Seventh-Day Adventist and CRC.

The opening ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept 13, with a marching band with the Governor for Central Province, Kila Haoda, to officiate.

Activities to follow include an outreach program and community service where a beach clean-a-thon will take place.

Other events include sports involving sea games and track and field events, peroveta choir nights, creative dance and drama and visitation to the sick and people living with disabilities.

There’ll also be awareness on relating social and health issues by the National HIV and AIDS Council.

Nearby villages are invited to attend.
