46 participants get sport strapping certificates

High Performance (HP) Sport- PNG Sports Foundation awarded 46 participants their level one sport strapping certificates last week.

This comes after the course that was held last month where the participants were taken through the basics of strapping ankles, knees and shoulder injuries acquired from playing active sport.

Sports Science Manager and Oceania Sports Education Program (OSEP) Educator, Tom Frost said that the participants engagement in the course was amazing, and that he believed the course would help avid sport club trainers to be better prepared to manage and prevent their players from injuries.

High Performance Director,  Aaron Alsop said also spoke on the success of the course.

“Offering these opportunities to develop and provide skills to people who volunteer in the sport industry is a must.

“I encourage those who are yet to undertake any formal training to join in the next course.

“I congratulate all of those who made the commitment to better themselves in order to best serve others in these skills,” said Alsop.

The course will be rolled out to the other three Regional Centres of Excellence (CoE) in Momase, Highlands and the New Guinea Islands.

The strapping course scheduled for the Momase CoE will be delayed until further notice while awaiting the full set up of the centre around mid-October.
