​Mobile data consumption remains high

​Mobile data consumption remains significantly high, according to consumer behaviour highlighted in the PNG Business Council’s 2017 Quarter One Report.

The brief report notes that consumers have adjusted well to the economy, with mobile data consumption standing out.

The report adds the retail sector in the fresh produce, hardware and consumables have been flat for the third consecutive year, while there has been an increased shift in informal and SME suppliers and increase in local food produce has been apparent.

EFTPOS and ATM transactions are reported to have risen, compared to the first Quarter 2016.

Personal loans have also climbed, while similar growths have also been noted in the superannuation sector with new customers from the various agricultural belts.
