Police officers arrested

Madang Provincial Police Commander Acting Superintendent Mazuc Rubiang said one is Inspector Kevin Hombehoie, 39 from Waramaru in East Yangoru. Hombehoie is the Yangoru Rural Police Station Commander. The other is Sergeant Moses Pilai, 35 from Kumun Village in West Yangoru. Pilai is the Tangori Rural Police Station Commander. Both had travelled from Wewak to Madang by boat on Sunday January 16 2022, when Madang police caught up with them that same evening and arrested them.

Yangoru Saussia counting this Wednesday

Christopher Jaminan, a candidate contesting in the 2017 National Election told Loop PNG from Wewak today.

Jaminan said, Returning Officer (RO) Martin Wana revealed this on Sunday following a meeting with candidates and their scrutineers.

He said, the RO stated that there is no funding to cater for the 60 electoral counting officials.

“This is a genuine reason and we were satisfied for the deferment to Wednesday,” Jaminan said.

First permanent classroom after 28 years

The school established in 1989, is situated among the vast grassland of Yangoru – Saussia District of East Sepik Province.  

It is level 4 school, with five teachers and 99 students.

Headmaster John Boyek said, the double classroom with 60 desks and chairs will definitely give a moral boast to the students.

The Yangoru Saussia District Development Authority funded the construction of the classroom and purchase desks and chairs totalling K100, 000.    

Water roll out in Yangoru

The MoA was signed between the Yangoru-Saussia District Development Authority (DDA) and Water PNG.

Minister for Trade, Commerce and Industry, and member for Yangoru-Saussia, Richard Maru, said the water supply system compliments other existing projects carried out in the districts and will attract more people to live and work there.

“Our intention is in our district towns we want to ensure that life there is the same as you were living in Port Moresby,” Maru said.

Andrias: Yangoru-Saussia chosen for SEZ on area

“It happens to be the only district in PNG with over 18,000 hectares of State land (Urimo 13,000 and Kanawi 5,000 hectares),” Andrias said.

He also bruised aside statement that the district was chosen because the local MP Richard Maru is the Minister for Trade, Commerce and Industry.       

Andrias added that the total area of the grassland estimated to be more than 400,000 hectares adjoins the districts of Wewak, Angoram, Ambunti Drekiker, Wosara Gawi, Maprik and Telefomin in West Sepik.

Prime Minister to launch agriculture project in Yangoru- Saussia

The official launch of the Sepik chicken, grain (stock feed) and cocoa innovative project will be held on July 18 in the Yangoru Saussia District.

The Department of Trade Commerce and Industry is advancing plans to partner the Cocoa Board, the LR Group of Israel and the people of East Sepik Province to develop a large scale Commercial Cocoa Production project within the Sepik Plain Special Economic Zone (SEZ),” local MP and Minister for Trade, Commerce and Industry Richard Maru said.

The father of housing scheme laid to rest

Late Jaminan was a former housing minister and the brains behind the State home give away housing scheme where public servants in Tokarara and Gerehu were given houses to purchase and own.

He was accorded a State funeral and his bidy was flown from Port Moresby to East Sepik Province.       

Current Member for Yangoru-Saussia and Minister for Trade Commerce & Industry, Richard Maru delivered the body of Late Jaminan to his people of Nimbihu village.
