Wabag market

Wabag market open for business

Funded by the Australian government under the PNG Incentive Fund program, construction began in 2020 and concluded after a year.

The modern infrastructure was formally opened last year but it did not become operational as constructors were given time to put in place a few building requirements.

The Wabag District Development Authority, headed by local MP and Minister for Health and HIV, Dr Lino Tom, has tasked the Wabag Women's Assiciation to manage the market.

Wabag DDA to be responsible for market

He was speaking at an MOU signing to hand over the ownership of the Wabag Town Market to the District Development Authority.

The people in the Wabag Open electorate have been without a proper market since 2012.

Before taking up the office of the Wabag Open MP, Dr. Tom made Wabag market one of his key priority projects as for far too long, the people of Wabag have suffered since work on the market development was stalled.
