Head Bishop pledges commitment

This assurance was given during the ELCPNG executives’ installation programme held at Ogelbeng Seminary in Western Highlands Province on March 17th, 2024.

Reverend Urame shared insights from the Word of God, delivered by Reverend Edwin Huevos, a pastor and missionary teacher from the Lutheran Church in the Philippines.

Simbu group still missing

The 14 ELC East Simbu District delegates were on their way to attend the 21st National Youth Conference on Tuesday, September 26th, when the boat they were travelling in went missing.

ELCPNG Head Bishop, Reverend Dr Jack Urame, said they were informed of the mishap on Thursday, September 28th, where they quickly liaised with the relevant authorities to conduct a search.

Church pays tribute to German missionary

In announcing her passing, Head Bishop, Reverend Dr Jack Urame, said Horndasch came to Papua New Guinea in 1957 and worked as a missionary in the Evangelical Lutheran Church for many years.

Born on March 3rd, 1931, in Berlin, the former German missionary was a driving force in the establishment of the ELCPNG’s ‘Wokmeri Treining Skul’, which first started in Sattelberg, Finschhafen, in Morobe Province.

She spent more than 50 years as a religious education teacher and later, as a senior expert, in Papua New Guinea, paying special attention to rural women.

Lutheran bishop gets PhD from DWU

Rev Urame was among over 800 people who graduated on March 10th with various qualifications in different programs at the 37th annual graduation ceremony at a packed St John Paul II Hall.

Dr Urame is the second doctoral student to graduate from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences in two consecutive years following the graduation of Dr Kevin Pamba last year.

 It brings to three PhDs who have graduated from the same Faculty, with Dr Iwona Kolodziejczyk being the first in 2013.
