Head Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Papua New Guinea, Reverend Jack Kalu Urame, has graduated with a doctor of philosophy (PhD) degree from Divine Word University in Madang.
Rev Urame was among over 800 people who graduated on March 10th with various qualifications in different programs at the 37th annual graduation ceremony at a packed St John Paul II Hall.
Dr Urame is the second doctoral student to graduate from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences in two consecutive years following the graduation of Dr Kevin Pamba last year.
It brings to three PhDs who have graduated from the same Faculty, with Dr Iwona Kolodziejczyk being the first in 2013.
Both Dr Urame and Dr Pamba did their doctoral studies as part-time students. Overall, Dr Urame is the seventh doctoral candidate to be bestowed a PhD by DWU since 2011.
Dr Urame did his thesis on the influence of money in PNG society, especially based around Simbu Province where he also comes from.
