Mirupasi Lawyers win Daffodil Golf Challenge

The event, sponsored annually over the last 14 years by Oil Search Limited, attracted a field of 26 teams on Friday including the Mapai Transports Team from Lae.

As a charity event aimed at raising funds for the PNG Cancer Foundation to carry out its annual programs throughout the country, a total of K91,720 was raised.

The money was raised through team registrations, fines, donations and the auction of a signed Kumul Jersey, donated by Oil Search and a signed PNG SP Hunters training shirt, donated by the SPPNG Hunters.

The companies include Exxon Mobil, Kwila Insurance, ANZ Bank and Pacific MMI Insurance, which was the first to register.

The annual charity golf challenge is organised by the Papua New Guinea Cancer Foundation.

It was launched on June 21 in Port Moresby with registration open to corporate companies and individual groups.

Over 30 teams are expected to take part with early bird registration fee of K3, 000. Those that register as of August 1 will pay a fee of K3, 500. 

Oil Search and Mapai sponsor Lae Daffodil Golf Challenge

The event was launched with a K50,000 sponsorship from foundation sponsor Oil Search Limited (K25,000) and Lae-based Mapai Transport Limited (K25,000).

This is the sixth year that the event will be hosted to support the work of the PNG Cancer Relief Society in Lae.

The corporate challenge will be held in Lae on August 19th.

Oil Search PNG communications manager, Ruth Waram, said the sponsorship covers the hosting of the event, whilst 100 percent of the funds raised from the  event will go directly to the PNG Cancer Relief Society to assist their work.
