Three wins on the trot for Hunters

The SP Hunters are right back on track to defending their Intrust Super Cup title after edging out the Townsville Blackhawks 12-8 in Port Moresby this afternoon.

There was not much separating the two sides at half-time with the visitors in front at 4-0 after a Ty Carucci try in the 15th minute.

Whatever Michael Marum said in the sheds worked.

The Hunters came firing off the block in the second half and found the try line in just five minutes through Junior Rau who raced fifty metres to score under the posts.

The kicking duties were left to halfback Watson Boas who booted the Hunters to the lead.

All the momentum was now with the home side and continued pressure led to the Hunters second four pointer that came from a bulldozing Stanton Albert in the 65th minute.

A last minute try to Kalifa Faifai-Loa was still not enough with the Hunters defence pulling them through to the end to win this year's Air Niugini Kokoda Cup.

The man of the match in the round 12 fixture was awarded to fullback, Adex Wera.
