Capital rugby kicks with 7s games

Week one of the pre-season games for the Capital Rugby Union (CRU) men’s 7s kicks off tomorrow at the Bisini Grounds.

12 teams will battle it out over three weekends of pre-season games. Games will be played on Saturday and Sunday.

Tournament Coordinator, Paul Joseph said this is traditional for the CRU to have a pre-season as a way to get players fit before the season proper commences.

“The pre-season will run all the way into February and if all goes well, we will have the NCD Governor’s Cup 7s.

“We will also run the pre-season games for the 15s next month which will also run for another three weekends.

“Season proper for the CRU will start on the first week of March.

The first game tomorrow at 1pm will be the showdown between Harlequins and Defence.

He finished by saying the women’s 7s pre-season games will start next week.
