ENB Book week a success

District Education Coordinator, Markus Tipepe said the National Book Week is an important annual event.

“The aim of today’s activities is to encourage our students to get into a healthy habit of reading books starting from an early stage. We also like to see more students coming out and speaking confidently on certain issues,” Tipepe said.

Rabaul welcomes rural electricity project

This follows a successful awareness on the rural electricity (RE) program conducted last week in these areas by the Rabaul District Administration technical officers, and representatives from PNG Power and contractor Pawa Com.

The awareness exercise, an administrative responsibility of the Rabaul District Administration highlighted the positive impacts of power supply including improving access to electricity, enhancing living conditions, supporting economic growth and enabling social progress.

Implement curriculum correctly, teachers told

A SBC 3-days trainer of trainers (TOT) program started on Wednesday at Malaguna Primary School which aimed at setting clear standards on what is required of teachers and students to learn and use those academic standards in their personal development.

The theme of the training is; “Improving teachers’ capacity in teaching Standard Based Curriculum and inclusive education to improve learning in Rabaul district schools.”

Referee clinic on Watom Island

The island LLG kick started its sports competition in April to encourage residents and youths to take part in various codes to stay healthy and fit.

More than 30 participants and officials for the codes of rugby touch 6s and volleyball attended the one-day referee clinic conducted on Thursday May 18.

The Community Development Sector of the Rabaul District Administration conducted the clinic with the assistance of the ENB Rugby Touch Association to assist in upskilling the participants’ knowledge on the laws of the code.

Rabaul To Restore Good Order

Deputy Provincial Administrator for Districts and LLGs, Nicholas Larme highlighted this concern to public servants during the handover takeover occasion of Rabaul district’s new administrator at Kurakakaul on Friday, 12 August.

Mr Larme said ongoing fights witnessed in a number of villages in the district including resettlement areas, have affected schools impacting many children.

Rabaul Gets New District Administrator

A handover takeover occasion was held today, 12 August at the Rabaul district headquarters at Kurakakaul. Deputy Provincial Administrator District and LLG Services, Nicholas Larme, district administration officers and senior Human Resources officers witnessed the occasion.

Mr Larme conducted an installation by introducing Mr Mode as the new district administrator and John Vule as the new deputy administrator operations.

Education Centre To Provide Pathways For Students

The building located at the Rabaul District headquarters, Kurakakaul will provide pathways for students to further their education.

This project was approved last year and awarded to a local construction company, Bela Investment Limited at a contract value of K1, 483 049.15. Foundation works commenced in April 2022 with an implementation timeframe of five months.

District Education Coordinator, Markus Tipepe said that this is an important project for the district as it will provide second chance opportunities for students.

Polling Kicks Off In Rabaul Electorate

Rabaul Returning Officer, Babel Umri said the 18 polling teams were dispatched to the polling venues in the Kombiu, Balanataman, Watom and Rabaul Urban LLGs as per the gazetted polling schedule.

He said most of the teams were dispatched with limited election materials and presiding officers were forced to spend from their own pockets while the treasury office fast tracks payments.

Peace reconciliation reached

The peace ceremony was initiated by the Rabaul District Administration through its Law and order committee, Police, ward councilors, church elders and provincial administrator following a fight among youths of the neigboring wards over the theft of a mobile phone which resulted in youths barricading the main Rabaul –Kokopo road between Tropicana store to CPL Malaguna.

According to eye witnesses, the fights broke out last Thursday after a youth from Malaguna No.1 allegedly stole a mobile phone belonging to a female from Malaguna No.2.
