Police Commissioner Gary Baki

Baki thanks Kessa villagers

After a busy scheduled during the Commissioner's Conference in Buka at Hutzena Secondary School, the participants were taken for a ride along the Buka ring road to Kessa, which is located at the edge of the island.

At the village, after the food and music, Baki said as part of capacity building in the Bougainville Police Service, the people must understand and respect the work of their police service.

"You must have confidence in your police force. It is an effort that we must collectively develop to strengthen so they can serve our people better," he said.

Police Commissioner Baki calls for self-discipline

He made this remark on Tuesday at the Bomana Police College outside Port Moresby during his address to 286 new police recruits.

He said the police force is one of the oldest organizations in PNG and prides itself on discipline, but “senior officers and non-commissioned officers (NCOs) are not maintaining the pride and discipline’’ that the members are taught at the Bomana Police College.

“Policing is not just a job, it’s a noble profession,” Commissioner Baki told the recruits.
