PNG U17 men’s soccer team

PNG ends friendlies on high note

They defeated Onehunga Mangere 2nd Division team 2-0 on Saturday, February 4, at Mt Smart, Auckland, following a 3-3 draw with Auckland Central Academy Football Club.

PNG’s two goals were scored 10 minutes to half time through Yagi Yasasa and Captain Ricky Wadunah.

It was a tough encounter early in the game but Yasasa broke the ice, scoring PNG's first goal 1-0 in the 32nd minute.

Just five minutes later, Wadunah scored PNG’s second goal (2-0) after a good build-up and combination play with Oberth Simon, who substituted Yasasa.

PNG U17 leave for buildup in New Zealand

The team left today for New Zealand for a series of friendlies before leaving for Tahiti on February 7 and Kamake knows  there is a mammoth task ahead for his team as they face New Caledonia in their opening match at Stade Mahina Stadium.

All the team in our pool are good and will present a challenge to the PNG boys, Kamake said.

“We are now looking forward to compete with Fiji and New Zealand U17 national team in the friendly in New Zealand which is part of our preparation towards the big event in February.”
