AS Papua New Guinea U17 prepares to play at the OFC U17 Championship, coach Harrison Kamake wants his players to get little things right at the first instance.
The team left today for New Zealand for a series of friendlies before leaving for Tahiti on February 7 and Kamake knows there is a mammoth task ahead for his team as they face New Caledonia in their opening match at Stade Mahina Stadium.
All the team in our pool are good and will present a challenge to the PNG boys, Kamake said.
“We are now looking forward to compete with Fiji and New Zealand U17 national team in the friendly in New Zealand which is part of our preparation towards the big event in February.”
Kamake said this friendly was very important for the boys to gauge their performance in preparation for the OFC U17 Championships.
While in New Zealand the PNG U17 will play three friendlies against Fiji U17 national team, New Zealand U17 national team and a Auckland Academy side.
PNG played first friendly against Fiji tomorrow, New Zealand on January 28 and Auckland Academy on February 4, to wrap-up their preparation.
All three friendlies will be played at the OFC Academy in Auckland.
Papua New Guinea is pooled in group A with Tahiti, New Caledonia and Vanuatu.
