Opposition Leader Don Polye

Polye denied inciting violence

Polye's denial surfaced, following Finance Minister and Tari-Pori MP, James Marape who alleged that the former minister incited violence.

"I do not incite violence. Had I done so, why would our people of Eastern Highlands have disrupted a PNC party-sponsored rally in Goroka town? Polye questioned.

"There has been an outright public resentment across the country. As such, our people of Hela have rejected Marape and PNC.

“If they have removed and burnt red shirts and caps, issued by PNC party that is it. People have spoken.”

Polye untroubled by O’Neill visiting Kandep

Thirty- one candidates have nominated to contest the open seat in Enga Province.

Polye, who had been on a nationwide campaign trail for his Triumph Heritage Empowerment (THE) Party candidates, is beaming with confidence.

He said, he will make history by winning with an absolute majority in the primary count by 30,000 votes.

In 2012, he was returned to Parliament after reaching an absolute majority in the primary count, with a difference of 13, 000 votes from his nearest rival.

Polye blames Pruaitch for Somare regime’s fall

Polye said on record, NA Party Leader Patrick Pruaitch was the main architect behind the fall of the Somare regime on August 02, 2011.

Sir Michael Somare was the parliamentary leader of NA during his two terms of reign as the prime minister.

"When Grand Chief Michael Thomas Somare was hospitalised for heart surgery in Singapore then all the funds parked in several trust accounts were slowly disappearing,” Polye claimed.

"A kitchen cabinet led by Pruaitch was responsible for these missing funds. He, as the Treasurer, was a signatory to all the trust accounts.”

Polye slates NA move as ‘too late’

Polye who was the former Treasury Minister said it was not in the best interest of the country but to satisfy its 'petty bed issues.'

"I needed Hon. Patrick Pruaitch and his lieutenants in July, 2016 when the Opposition moved a Vote of No-Confidence against the Prime Minister.

"Our people have desperately wanted a change in the country's leadership amidst rife in corruption levelled against the executive government, serial breaking of rule of law, embezzlement of public funds and economic mismanagement," Polye said.

Don’t politicise opening of Oro operating theatre: Malabag

The opening was scheduled for today but in an eleventh hour decision, was postponed to happen after the 2017 National Election.

Malabag in a media statement this morning said, "the formal opening off the Popondetta General Hospital Operating Theatre has been deferred until after the upcoming National Elections.

"This is a vital healthcare facility for the people of Oro and the nation, and must not be politicised.

"It is unfortunate that uninvited politicians attempted to hijack the event and create a security problem.

Don’t use me as a commodity for your gain

Polye issued the warning on Wednesday  at a ceremony where supporters of his rival candidates at Upper Marient in Kandep surrendered and vowed to support him in this year’s election.

“Our governor Peter Ipatas does not get the projects for his Irelya village in Enga Province on merit.

“Ipatas uses me as a political commodity to gain them. He usually tells Prime Ministers including the current one that he will distract Polye from concentrating on toppling them.

“My political enemies were easily bought into his tricks at Waigani,” he said.
