PNG coaches need to be properly accredited

Australian NRL in country manager Mark Mom said in the game of rugby league these days, in order to improve the actual game you need coaches that are properly accredited.

Australian NRL in PNG is funded under the Australian Government and one of its outcomes is to build a capacity for the PNG Rugby Football League (PNGRFL).

Mom said the Australian NRL must make sure that they have the proper tools to increase coach education.

“We must ensure that PNGRFL has accredited coaches because the focus now in the NRL is how you coach, not what you coach.

Digicel Play increases rugby coverage in PNG

Papua New Guinea's premier Sport Network - TVWAN Action continues to grow its live Rugby coverage in the region by adding two special LIVE event channels on Digicel Play.

Un-interrupted live broadcast of all the NRL matches will remain on TVWAN Action, including special pre-match built-up and post-match analysis. State of Origin, ANZAC Day tests as well as the Rugby League World Cup will also air live on TVWAN Action.

Rugby league coaches undergo NRL certified accreditation course

The coaching accreditation course is the first stage of a three phase program to achieve a PNGRFL coaching certificate accreditation to the NRL.

Thirty one coaches from the Southern and New Guinea Islands confederates took part in the first clinic from March 6-8 in Port Moresby.

Twenty six coaches from the Highlands and Northern Confederates participated in the second clinic from March 10-12 in Goroka.

Among the participants were 13 former players from the Kumuls, SP Hunters and Digicel Cup, and six women club coaches.

Cornish earns NRL debut with injury-hit Titans

Decimated by injuries the Titans have recalled both Dan Sarginson (knee) and William Zillman (calf) into the starting side but both trained predominantly with the rehab group on Tuesday.

‌Slater has been tipped to return against the Broncos on Thursday night after over a year out of the game because of a shoulder injury. 

Taumalolo, Scott to challenge bans

Both were charged over hits in the Cowboys' golden point win over Brisbane, with Taumalolo risking a two-match ban if found guilty at the judiciary.

Scott is facing a one-match ban but is also sidelined indefinitely after suffering an ACL injury during the match.

Meanwhile Warriors prop Charlie Gubb and Raiders forward Iosia Soliola have pleaded guilty to charges but will escape suspensions.

Semi Radradra responds to Eels coach Brad Arthur

Radradra bagged the first four-try haul of his 70-game NRL career on Sunday night in the Eels' 34-16 flogging of St George Illawarra in Wollongong - marking the fifth hat-trick of his career.

He scored his first three tries on the left wing, completing relatively simple moves down the Parramatta edge and receiving the final ball from either Michael Jennings or Corey Norman.
