At the Bisini Grounds in Port Moresby, Besta PNG United FC def. FC Momase 3-1.

Up at the Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium in Lae, Toti City FC def. Buang FC 8-1.

Across to Laiwaden Oval in Madang, hosts Madang FC def. Southern Strikers FC 5-0.

Dwellers, Madang qualify for OFC Champions League

It was double the celebration for the undefeated Dwellers, who secured the minor premiership in the National Soccer League competition to automatically qualify for next year’s Champions League challenge.

Chasing behind are Madang FC, who also secured a spot at the Champions League.

The current standings:

Lae City Dwellers (28), Madang FC (19), Huawei PS United FC (16), Besta PNG United FC (11), Buang FC (8), Vitis Yamaros FC (1).

Competition Manager, Simon Koima, said finals for the NSL will be played next month. 

Game Eight: Wins to Madang, Dwellers and PS United

In the first match of the triple header yesterday in the nation's capital, Madang FC won the match against Besta PNG United FC with a scoreline of  1-0.

Dwellers outplayed Vitis Yamaros FC 6-1 during the lunch time match.

Meanwhile, in the main game, PS United defeated Buang FC 4-0.

​POM to host NSL triple header tomorrow

The first match of the day will kick off at 10am between Besta PNG United FC and Madang FC.

This will be followed by Vitis Yamaros FC taking on Lae City Dwellers FC at 12:30pm.

In the main game in game eight of round two, Buang FC go head to head with Huawei PS United FC. This game is scheduled for 3pm.

Meanwhile, the current standings after game seven of round two:

Madang FC beaten 5-0 by AS Magenta

AS Magenta’s Nicolas Marin booted the first and only goal of the first half from a penalty kick in the 25th minute to give the home side a 1-0 lead.

The flood gates opened up in the second half starting from the 60 minute mark when Shene Jean Francois Welepane latched onto a cross from Marin to slot the ball past Madang’s Glen Agat.

AS Magenta scored again in the 69th and 73rd minute before finishing it off with a powerful strike from Joseph Athale that beat Agat in the 85th minute and cap off an easy win.

PNGFA gives K50,000 to Madang FC for Champions League

Chairman of Madang Football Club, Dr Miok Komolong upon receiving the cheque from PNGFA senior vice president, John Wesley Gonjuan, said the assistance was timely and thanked PNGFA for their assistance.

“I commend PNG Football Association for the timely assistance and for the mother body to step in is something we value and appreciate very much.

“We’re looking forward for our campaign in New Caledonia and to make PNG proud, said Komolong.

Madang FC thanks all its supporters

Team Manager Terrence Issue says credit goes to all the supporters and fans at home and away games.

He says the exiting of MFC this season is far better than the other teams in the Southern and Northern Conference beating Lae City Dwellers in the last game of the season 2-1 and finishing on 18 points.

He says the supporters, team Management and Madang Provincial Government under the leadership of Governor Jim Kas are pleased to finish on high note.

Issue thanked MPG for sponsoring the team, Madang supporters, support staff, NSL board and referees.

Madang FC players to play for top teams

Madang FC Manager Terence Issue says the players are midfielder and striker Samuel Kini, backliners Felix Komolong, Langarap Samol and Rodney Talau.

Issue says the players will play for their respective team this season and will join the club again for the next season.

He says Samuel Kini, Langarap Samol and Rodney Talau joins Rapatona FC while Felix Komolong joins Hekari United.

He adds that Komolong flew to POM yesterday  are now in Hekari camp while Samol, Talau and Kini will join Rapatona today.

Madang FC clears air over false report

Madang FC Assistant Manager Chales Romo in a media statement said the report given by Welgris United Management and was published in a daily newspaper and also went viral on Facebook is not true and spoils the name of Madang FC.

He said Welgris claimed that in the first half of the game the goal keeper was shot at using sling shots by Madang FC supporters and the players were also hit with stones in the second half.

Romo said the reports given by the Welgris Management are not true.

Madang FC names team for round three

Coach Bob Morris named its 18 man travelling squad yesterday afternoon and left for Goroka today.

Coach Morris says he has put in some new players to take the field with Sojo Mandari to stand at the goal mouth, Langarap Samol, Rodney Talau, Ray Romo and Nigel Malagain to be the backliners.

He says the two midfielders are Darren Steven who last week played wing against Admiralty FC and Hanson Tirimo with wingers Ian Hangasa and Vanya Malagin.

He says the two strikers are captain Max Sengum and Samuel Kini with seven reserves.
