PNG Kapul Foster pleased to gain experience abroad

Foster, who played with Lae City Dweller in the PNG Football Association’s 2015-2016 Telikom National Soccer League (NSL), says the S-League was a good competition.

He has been a stand out player for Malaita Kings Football Club at the semi-professional league competition.

“It has been a good and new experience for me playing abroad for the first time in this competition,” Foster said.

In his final match with Malaita Kingz last week, Foster scored their only goal, while fellow countryman Tommy Semmy scored a hat trick for Marist FC, who won the match 3-1.

Dwellers to repeat fearless performance

Champions Lae City Dwellers and unbeaten Hekari United FC will vie tomorrow for the top spot at the Bisini grounds.

Both teams are in top form after thrashing Rapatona FC and Welgris FC 5-0 respectively in separate games in the mid-week clash.

However, champions Lae City Dwellers are well positioned to claim the minor premier as they are leading the race with points in number of goals scored and win or lose, they will still claim the minor premier seat.

Hekari and Dwellers eye grand final

Dwellers and Hekari are currently leading the NSL Champions League challenge in first and second place respectively, while Rapatona FC is on third place and Welgris Morobe United trailing.

The two front runners are leveled on five points however, Dwellers is leading on goal average of up to four goals difference.

Game six this weekend will determine the minor premiership, with Hekari and Dwellers candidates for the title.

This Saturday will see Dwellers take on Hekari in Moresby and Rapatona will play Welgris in Lae.

Dwellers crush Rapatona in first away game

In the other away game played in Lae at  the  Ignatius Kilage stadium Hekari defeated  hosts Welgris United FC 2-nil in a one sided affair.

Dwellers in a dazzling opening minute took complete command of the match until the final whistle.

It was the Dwellers top players Raymond Gunemba and Nigel Dabinyaba that shook the entire match with their power plays and  strategies to take full command of the proceedings.

Dwellers opened up with the first goal from Raymond Gunemba just  after the kick off from the half way line.

Rapatona works on attack as Dwellers game approaches

After losing their first two games in the NSL Champions League against unbeaten MRDC Hekari United FC, Rapatona are not giving up that easily as they focus on preparation in the past two days.   

Rapatona coach Selan Elizah said he is working closely with his boys to beef up on their attacking skills.

Elizah said they will need to improve in this area in order to score goals.

“We also need to work on our defence and movements of our players on the field as we have missed too many opportunity goals in the past.

Hekari attributes success to discipline

Team manager Vonnie Kapi Natto says discipline on and off the field is always top priority for the players and this has reflected in the results they have achieved so far in NSL.

Kapi Natto gave credit to the older star players including captain David Muta, Koriak Upaiga, Wira Wama and Ismael Pole.

She said these players have been down with injury from time to time during the season but have kept the team spirit in every match.

NSL Champions League heats up

Rapatona will take on MRDC Hekari United FC at Bisini Soccer Grounds in Port Moresby, while in Lae, Morobe will battle with reigning premiers Lae City Dwellers at the Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium.

Rapatona will have to push harder to prevent any goals after Hekari outplayed them scoring one goal 1-0 in their last encounter in game one on Saturday.

After suffering defeat to Dwellers 2-0 on Saturday, Morobe must double up in attack to at least score some goals.

Both games kick off at 2pm and will be telecast live on EMTV.

Hekari to face stiff opposition in Pom FC

Hekari are undefeated having won all eight games and are on 24 points.

The Southern Conference points ladder stands with, Hekari (24 points), FC Port Moresby (13), PKA Rapatona FC (10), Gigira Laitepo Utd FC (8), Huawei PS Utd FC (7) and Erema Gulf FC (7).

The Northern Conference sees a different story with the Dwellers ahead of second placed Madang FC by just 5 points.
