Prime suspect in Dr Rongap's murder caught

Lae detectives were tipped off, sending information to Madang detectives who went to Yagaum and apprehended Mathew David of Finschaffen, Morobe Province.

According to Lae Police Boss, Anthony Wagambie Jnr, the suspect was sought after by police until information reached investigators that he was at Yagaum.

Wagambie says there are seven suspects wanted by police for the late doctors’ murder and this arrest now brings the number to five.

“There are two outstanding and we are confident that they will be arrested soon.”

Lae records quiet October: Police

Lae Metropolitan police commander Anthony Wagambie Jnr informed Loop PNG that generally the city was quiet with no major incidents to report.

Normal operations were conducted with the presence of foot beat patrols into areas of concern, with cases attended to promptly by police.

Wagambie Jnr said apart from maintaining order, the city reported a quiet month of October.
