Prime suspect in Dr Rongap's murder caught

One prime suspects of the murder of the Late Dr Alphonse Rongap was apprehended by Madang Police of Yagaum in the early hours of Monday, October 31st.

Lae detectives were tipped off, sending information to Madang detectives who went to Yagaum and apprehended Mathew David of Finschaffen, Morobe Province.

According to Lae Police Boss, Anthony Wagambie Jnr, the suspect was sought after by police until information reached investigators that he was at Yagaum.

Wagambie says there are seven suspects wanted by police for the late doctors’ murder and this arrest now brings the number to five.

“There are two outstanding and we are confident that they will be arrested soon.”

The suspect was transported back to Lae where he has been formally charged and is now at Buimo CS, awaiting court appearance.

The suspect had escaped from the police cells in 2013 in which he had been held while waiting for charges to be laid on him for armed robbery.
