The 14 tracks are the star's first body of work in more than three years, so when Lady Gaga confirmed that she was back in the studio fans began speculating.

They wanted to hear those famous Gaga sounds and they were hoping for certain (Beyonce?) collaborations.

Now, it's out and fans can find out for themselves what it's really like.

Gaga appears to have gone for a different sound

Previews can commonly be heard on Amazon when an album is available for pre-order, but they had been disabled for Gaga's highly-anticipated comeback.

Owners of Amazon's Echo speaker then discovered they could access songs by issuing the instruction: "Play Joanne by Lady Gaga."

Amazon declined to comment to the BBC.

The 30-second clips have been recorded and shared online by several fans, withone video showing Amazon's speaker lighting up and responding to the voice commands.

The Grammy award winning singer will play the halftime show in Houston, Texas in February 2017.

She has tweeted: "It's not an illusion. The rumours are true. This year the Super Bowl goes Gaga!"

The National Football League (NFL) championship game is the most watched event on US television.

Lady Gaga will follow in the steps of Beyonce, Coldplay, Bruno Mars and Katy Perry.

It will be her second Super Bowl appearance after she opened last February's game with a performance of the American national anthem.

The singer unveiled the song on Radio 1's Breakfast Show, explaining how it was composed with producer Mark Ronson and Tame Impala's Kevin Parker.

"Kevin flew to us from Australia and he came with this idea, that was the beginning of a song called Illusion," she told Nick Grimshaw.

"I work on a typewriter and we would bounce new lyrics back and forth."

Cooper will make his directorial debut on the film, which will also mark Lady Gaga's first lead role in a feature.

Lady Gaga will compose and perform new songs in the film, which tells of an aspiring starlet's relationship with a leading man whose star is on the wane.

Previous versions of the story starred Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand.

'Visionary'

Gaga made the announcement in a very colourful collage puzzle on her Instagram page, and also on her website.

She's been working with names including Mark Ronson, Red One and Nile Rodgers on her new material and this will be our first taster of her new album.

French artist Orlan was asking for 7.5% of the royalties made by the star's record.

That amounts to $31.7m (£28.3m) of the eight million global sales for her second studio album.

The case claimed that Gaga had stolen concepts from two sculptures including a 1989 piece called Bumpload and Woman with Head from 1996.

It was argued that the work had been copied in both the album artwork, as well as in a scene from the music video of the same name, where severed heads appear on a table.

A week after Kesha suffered a setback in her battle to be freed from her Sony contract, she received some support from Lady Gaga on social media.

Along with a picture of the pair holding hands, Lady Gaga tweeted simply: "Free Kesha."

Later in the day, Gaga also shared a statement from California lieutenant governor Gavin Newsom hailing Kesha for giving "strength to many who have been afraid to speak up" about abuse.

While launching a legal bid to get out of her Sony contract, Kesha accused her producer Dr Luke of sexual assault and sexual harassment.
