Super Bowl

McCoy a Super Bowl scratch

The 11th year veteran was a healthy scratch for Andy Reid's team, not making the 53-man gameday roster along with linebacker Darron Lee and cornerback Morris Claiborne.

McCoy, who has the 27th most scrimmage yards of all time in the NFL, joined the Chiefs this offseason but has played just one snap since Week 15.

Tevin Coleman and Dee Ford were, as expected, both active for the San Francisco 49ers despite some initial concerns over their injuries, while wide receiver Dante Pettis was a healthy scratch having not had a target since Week 10.

Shakira and Jennifer Lopez to headline Super Bowl half-time show

The concert is one of the biggest in the world - over 98 million people watched the show this year.

In a statement, the NFL said the pair would perform on 2 February in Miami's Hard Rock Stadium.

Their show will be the first to be produced by Roc Nation, an entertainment company founded by rapper and businessman Shawn "Jay Z" Carter.

Both artists have released chart-topping songs in English and Spanish since the 1990s.

They shared the latest announcement on social media.

Eagles fly high as Patriots fall short in Super Bowl thriller

The Patriots were hot favourites going into the game, with the combination of star quarterback Tom Brady and coach Bill Belichick going for their sixth Super Bowl triumph.

But a year after the Patriots made a great escape to win Super Bowl LI from 25 points down against Atlanta, the Eagles managed to keep their composure and finish the job for the franchise's first-ever NFL title.

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles — who had taken over from the injured starter Carson Wentz during the season — showed few nerves as he connected calmly with his receivers.

P!nk to perform national anthem at Super Bowl LII

The NFL announced on Monday that P!nk will perform the national anthem ahead of kickoff on February 4 at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

The singer will make her first Super Bowl appearance, unlike half-time headliner Justin Timberlake, whose last show caused quite a stir.

Timberlake previously created a controversy during half-time of the New England Patriots' 32-29 win over the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl XXXVIII in 2004 when he exposed Janet Jackson's breast at the end of the show.

Super Bowl-scorned Atlanta Zoo names baby cockroach 'Tom Brady'

Brady and the Patriots proved hard to kill off in the Super Bowl, and Zoo Atlanta commemorated New England's historic 25-point comeback victory by paying off a losing bet to its northern counterpart.

The Atlanta zoo and the Roger Williams Park Carousel Village in Rhode Island had agreed the losing side would name a baby animal after the winning team's star quarterback.

Meet baby Madagascar hissing cockroach "Tom Brady", named after the Super Bowl most valuable player, who led the Patriots from a 28-3 third-quarter deficit to a 34-28 overtime victory.

All about Lady Gaga's Super Bowl show

That all came at the end of 13 minutes of frantic action that started on the roof of a stadium in Houston, saw her plummet down to ground level before apparently running a few kilometres. All while singing, and fitting in one costume change. Not bad.

The consensus was that Lady Gaga nailed it - it being the half-time show of the Super Bowl, the big date in any American football fan's diary.

In doing so, she followed such names as the Rolling Stones, Michael Jackson and Beyonce (more on her later.)

Lady Gaga's Super Bowl show to feature hundreds of drones

Lady Gaga's Super Bowl halftime show will feature hundreds -- yes, hundreds -- of lit-up drones, a source with knowledge of the show's production told CNNMoney.

The source said the inclusion of unmanned aerial vehicles required clearance from the Federal Aviation Administration, which has placed a ban on drones at or near the stadium.

Earlier this week, the FAA declared a 34.5-mile radius around Houston's NRG Stadium a "no drone zone" on game day.
