PNG Lewas lose by 7 runs to Scotland in ICC qualifier match

The Lewas won the toss and elected to field sending the Scots in to bat first in the Group B match.

Lewas’ captain, Pauke Siaka led the charge with the ball in hand destroying the Scots’ with figures of 6/19 to have them all bowled out for 169.

The bulk of the Scots’ runs came from the middle order from Rachel Scholes (35), Elizabeth Priddle (31) and Kari Anderson (26).

In their run chase, the Lewas got off to a strong start with openers Brenda Tau (46) and Tanya Ruma (32) on fire.

PNG Lewas suffer second defeat at hands of Pakistan

Pakistan batted first and posted a total of 276 thanks largely to openers Ayesha Zafar (115) and Javeria Khan (100).

Zafar was in top form smashing 21 boundaries before retiring hurt.

Pakistan finished at 5/276 after batting out the full 50 overs.

Pauke Siaka was the Lewas best bowler taking 2/34.

With the ball in hand, Pakistan ripped through the Lewas' batting attack bowling the PNG girls all out for 40 runs inside 24 overs.

Konio Oala top scored for the Lewas with 14 runs to her name.
