2017 Heineken DJ competition kicks off

It will be double trouble! Two DJ Competitions rolled into one - the A grade division to find the Rising Star DJ 2017 and the B grade Rookie DJ 2017.

This year has attracted 24 DJ’s in total, 12 in each division, who will be competing over 7 nights.

Assistant Manager Jacquie Simons says the competition will basically be the same as last year.

“What we're trying to do is improve the quality of DJs in the country and promote upcoming DJs through mentorship and promotion as well,” she said.

The six7five party kicked off at 11:30pm with guest performance – the man in dreads – O’Four starting up the heat.

Boys from CocoMahn Basement (CMB) took on the challenge to keep the crowd entertained dropping favourites including Basio lalo among others.

And yes, Narxson was in the house and he did turn the heat up with Meri Nakanai and Mangi Morobe.

But the magic happened when Planet Native stepped on the stage bringing harsh Hip Hop straight out of Port Moresby’s urban scene.
