Trukai donates to fundraising drive

This assistance demonstrates Trukai Industries’ support for community activities under its health initiatives, which is a part of its corporate social responsibility program.

The CT Scanner was presented to the Bougainville Charity Foundation’s (BCF) fundraising drive to purchase a cancer detection equipment.

BCF has helped many remote communities throughout Bougainville in various aspects, which include education and health with its recent fundraising appeal to purchase the cancer equipment for Bougainville’s main hospital.

Businessman’s appeal dismissed over misappropriation

The court found that the appellant, Peni did not show evidence that a miscarriage of justice took place in 2013 when the trial judge found him guilty.

Justice Ambeng Kandakasi in reading the unanimous decision of the full court said appeals do not undo convictions but are only there to correct miscarriage of justice where it occurs.

He said the trial judge had found beyond reasonable doubt that Peni dishonestly applied to his own use and to the use of others, K2, 700,000, property belonging to the Autonomous Region of Bougainville Government.

B’ville 1st govt to sign Vunapope training deal

The department  signed an agreement with the Saint Marys Vunapope School of Nursing in Kokopo East New Britain Province which is affiliated to the Divine Word University.

The ABG is now the first Ggovernment to sign a memorandum of understanding with a nursing school.

This leaves the Buka General Hospital as the training provider for trainees from the Vunapope School of Nursing.
