PNG misses out on gold play off in women’s volleyball

PNG has missed out on the gold play off in the women’s volleyball competition.

The home side was defeated by American Samoa 3-1 to settle for the bronze play off on Saturday.

 

It was a tough encounter in the early stages of the match with American Samoa winning the first set 25-14 but PNG bounced back to take out the second set 27-25.

 

The visitors played hard to save themselves, making a comeback winning the third set 21-25 boosted with great sets, hits and ball placement.

 

American Samoa maintained the lead in the fourth set to win 25-17.

 

PNG will face New Caledonia in the bronze play off while American Samoa has scored a place in the gold play off.
