Mining Minister and Member for Rigo District, Sir Ano Pala and the Rigo DDA team had agreed to partner with Mama Bank to bring in financial inclusion to their people. The investment includes the setup of Mama Bank agency in the district, for easy access to financial services and credit facility to support the district’s economic plans in empowering entrepreneurship in Rigo District.

The Tari-Pori District Development Authority (DDA) partnered with the Mama Bank to establish a Mama Bank Agency in the district, enabling the local people to have easy access to financial services and credit facility to support the district’s economic plans in empowering entrepreneurship in Tari-Pori District.

The initiative was backed in 2020 and led by Rachael Marape, which eventually inspired the Prime Minister and Tari-Pori DDA to allocate a K1 million and a new office building for Mama Bank to set up in Tari.

This deal also outlines the establishment of a credit scheme, whilst facilitating financial inclusion for the people of Samarai-Murua.

Women’s Micro Bank Chief Executive Officer, Gunanidhi Das says the bank believes that through the District Development Authorities, their services will reach more people.

“For us to reach the masses, we need partners to work with us. We believe the district development authorities are the good partners that we can work with.”
