US elections: Violent protests at Trump New Mexico rally

Police in riot gear fired smoke grenades into the crowd. Protesters also interrupted Mr Trump's speech at the rally in Albuquerque.

Mr Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, wants a wall to be built along the border with Mexico.

New Mexico is the most Hispanic state in the US.

'Still in diapers'

The protesters had gathered outside the Albuquerque Convention Center, with banners that read "Trump is Fascist" and "We've heard enough".

Burundi's 2nd vice president flees amid political tensions

Gervais Rufyikiri, who went to Belgium last week, said in an interview on Radio France International aired Thursday that he has not officially resigned. 

He is the most senior government official to publicly oppose President Pierre Nkurunziza's efforts to extend his stay in power. 

Rufyikiri has now joined dozens of opposition and civil society activists, government officials and journalists who have gone into exile after opposing the president's candidacy for another term in office.
