First eco-tourism product in Bundi, Madang opens

The new five mountain bedroom cabin at the Snow Pass Eco-lodge was named after American medical doctor Marc Richmond who carries out voluntary health outreach program in the area.

The “Richmond Haus” lodge is located at mid-point between the majestic Ramu plains and the lofty ridges of Mt Wilhelm.

Local and international visitors can enjoy the peaceful scenery as it is a major transition point for migrating birds passing up and down.

The cabin is settled at 2,200m on a ridge top bordering three provinces, namely Eastern Highlands, Chimbu and Jiwaka.

Bundi foundation and eco-tourism project to be launched

The double launch event is scheduled on February 17-19 at Snow Pass, Upper Bundi.

The Kumura Foundation was established to support healthcare, education, Eco-Tourism and other much needed community development projects.

Eye patients in Bundi receive free spectacles

People came from all over  rural Bundi area including areas along the borders of Jimi, Chimbu and Eastern Highlands Province.

The medical outreach program was carried out from October 11-17 at Snow Pass and Yandera villages of remote Upper Bundi.

Out of the total 388 seen and diagnosed for various medical illnesses, 95 people had their eyes checked with about 64 needing glasses.

The glasses were sent by Dr. Marc Richmond of California and were donated by individuals and organisations in the United States.

Students told to respect and value education

During a presentation of 3000 library books recently to eight schools in the area, Digicel PNG Foundation Men of Honour Vincent Kumura told the students about the importance of reading and education.

Kumura highlighted the need for the youths, parents and the community to partner in fighting careless and violent behaviours such as vandalising school properties and disrespecting teachers.

“The goal is to promote a safer and violent free community where teachers would teach uninterrupted, students could learn well and be better citizens of tomorrow.
