Executive Dean of  SHSS, Professor Leo Marai extended his warm welcome to the new students for making it through to the University.

“With immense pleasure, I extend a warm welcome to each of you as you embark on a transformative journey at the School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS) here at the University of Papua New Guinea.”

“Congratulations on reaching this significant academic milestone! Your decision to study and pursue your aspirations at our esteemed institution reflects both wisdom and discernment, said Prof. Marai.

“For those of us (students) who got the privilege to know her and her family personally, she was a counsellor, a confidante, a champion, a friend; in short, she was a ‘mother’ to us throughout our time at UPNG and even now (years later),” says former student and peer educator, Fredah Joses.

“Her genuine words and actions of wisdom, kindness, love, correction, integrity and guidance will always remain with us.

The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) in the United Kingdom has awarded professional associate membership to several academics in the School’s Accounting Division. The awardees are Professor Lekshmi Pillai, Executive Dean of the School; Mr. Ponnusamy Manohar, Deputy Dean and Senior Lecturer; Mr. Pandita Bandara, Head of Division and Senior Lecturer; Mr. Silas Umaropi, Lecturer; Suresh Babu Nagarajan, Lecturer; and Mr. Robert Kutapai, Lecturer.

 They are the Master of Laws in Business and Commercial Laws, and the advanced Diploma in Business (major in HRM) in Human Resource Management.

The ranking celebrates academic excellence for the University’s programs following the analysis of more than 17,000 programs from 1,000 universities in 154 countries, and reflects the quality and reputation of the University’s School of Business and Public Policy, and the School of Law.

One way to deal with the issues of these sexually frustrated asylum seekers would be to allow for a brothel.

UPNG undergoes major infrastructure development

The University Council is confident that there will certainly be a graduation ceremony but due to the 2016 revised academic calendar, the exact date for the ceremony is yet to be confirmed.

According to the revised calendar, the graduation ceremony will take place in May. However, pro vice-chancellor planning and development, Professor Vincent Malaibe, said the ceremony is subject to the University Council’s approval.

UPNG Acting Chancellor Dr. Nicholas Mann added that the University Council will deliberate on that before dates are set.
