National women’s champs set for Saturday

PNGRFL Game Development manager, Toksy Nema, said the four Confederates – Southern, Northern, Highlands and New Guinea Islands (NGI) – will assemble in Port Moresby tomorrow (Friday) and be accommodated at the Pacific Institute of Leadership and Governance (PILAG), formerly IPA at Waigani.

He said the four teams will play against each other in a round robin format and the two top teams will play in the final on Sunday, August 26.

“This game will be the curtain raiser to the Digicel Cup preliminary final between Giru Waghi Tumbes and Goroka Bintangor Lahanis,” Nema said.

National schools, Women’s champs set to go

PNGRFL National Development Manager, Toksy Nema, said the championships will start with the U16 division.

“Saturday will see the U18s and on Sunday the women’s championships takes place,” said Nema.

He said the teams will play against each other in a round robin format and the team that ends up on top will be crowned champions.

The first game on Friday at 9am will see Southern take on New Guinea Islands followed by current U16 champions Northern up against Highlands.

At 12 noon, Southern will play Northern followed by Highlands versus NGI.
