ICT equipment for foreign affairs dept

Upon request of DFAT earlier this year, Korea decided to support the modernisation project of the department, which aims to digitalise PNG diplomats’ work environment.  

The Republic of Korea and PNG established diplomatic relations in 1976, right after PNG’s independence in 1975. Since then, the two countries have been strengthening the partnership and friendship particularly on economic cooperation and human resources development.  

Republic of Korea shows support

Four months have lapsed since the devastating February 26th earthquake.

Republic of Korea on Friday joined others who showed their support to those affected communities.

Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, Kymgu Kang, presented food items, including water purification tablets, to the Emergency Disaster Restoration Team’s Emergency Controller, Dr Bill Hamblin. Also at hand was the Southern Highlands Deputy Provincial Administrator - Economic and Social Services, Fiebik (Fi-Bik) Simon.

Republic of Korea gives support to PNG

After the earthquakes, around 42,500 people lost their homes and 270,000 people, including 125,000 children, from 4 disaster-affected regions, suffering from lack of clean water and food, are in need of an immediate relief.

The embassy says that the efforts are in line with bilateral support for the country.

First Secretary to the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, Kim Hyung-ju outlined the efforts in place to support PNG, given the close bilateral relations between the two countries.
