The rugby challenge kicked off today and ends on 22nd of July that will see all six universities in country compete for the 2023 VC Cup hosted by the University of Goroka.

Ramu NiCo’s Vice President, Meng Deyong said the sponsorship was made available based on a

request from Divine Word University’s Sports and Recreational Office to support the team. He said this was also to maintain the good relationship between the Ramu Nickel and Cobalt Project in the Province and Divine Word University.

Ramu NiCo upskill local workforce

Through the Company’s corporate obligations for communities around the corridor of the Ramu Nickel and Cobalt Project to provide employment opportunities for locals, has seen more locals employed and trained in different departments in the mine at Kurumbukari and Basamuk Refinery since the mine began.

Governor Pariwa Meets with Chinese Ambassador

The meeting was described as the ‘fruit of the good relationship’ set by Governor Pariwa and Ramu NiCo Management (MCC) Limited, with MCC now acting as the bridge to work hand-in-hand with the Chinese investors through the Embassy, to further serve the people of the province.

Ambassador Fanhua highlighted in the meeting that Ramu NiCo Management is the face of China in Madang and for a Governor to have more interest to partner with their state owned enterprise is a good sign for more Chinese investor confidence through the embassy.

Over K14 million Royalty Payout

The landowner groups who benefited from this payout include; Kurumbukari K8.3m , Inland Pipeline, Coastal Pipeline LO’s K2 million each Basamuk LO’s received K3m respectively.

The recent royalty payment to the landowners of the project’s impact areas of the Ramu Nickel Project is the sixth payment made by the Company since production began in 2013, and paid to 190 accounts belonging to clans within the four project impact areas.
