PNG Enhances Bilateral Engagement

Minister Tkatchenko reaffirmed bilateral engagements with Indonesia Vice Foreign Minister Pahala Mansury.

In a media statement released, Minister Tkatchenko expressed satisfaction with the progress made under the leadership of both governments in addressing outstanding bilateral commitments.

Key agreements discussed included; the ratification of the Mutual Visa Waiver Exemption for Diplomatic and Official Passport Holders by PNG, as well as the review of the Basic Border Agreement and the Defence Cooperation Agreement between the two countries.

Deadline for Security Treaty confirmed

Secretary Elias Wohengu confirmed that they should be able to see this complete by April.

Foreign Affairs Minister, Justin Tkatchenko stated that the Secretary for Foreign Affairs with the Chief Secretary for Papua New Guinea are leading all negotiations and documentation for the security treaty with Australia.

Foreign Affairs graduates urged to ‘have belief in yourself’

He challenged them to have a believing heart in order to have a successful career with the Department of Foreign Affairs.

"Believe in God, believe in yourself and believe in those who believe in you in order to be a successful public servant," Dihm told the graduates.

A total of 28 graduands have finished the 12 modules in 12 months.

The training was an initiative of the PNG Foreign Affairs and the New Zealand Foreign Affairs and Trade ministry.

The vision of the training program is to re-establish a quality standard of PNG foreign service officers.
