Chan said: “CRU remains steadfast in its mission to increase participation and awareness of rugby union while fostering a culture of inclusivity and sportsmanship within the community.”

Wanderers a long shot for finals

Brothers and Defense are certain for the finals but University Piggies and Harlequins will have to fight hard in the final round of the competition this weekend to lock in their spots.

The Wanderers 23 to 20 win against MMB Marlins on Saturday has put the team in a position to give a final crack on the finals bet.

The 20 points draw between the University Piggies and Harlequins have opened the door for the Wanderers to test its muscles for the last time.

Piggies, Harlies match ends in draw

Both teams were toe to toe and the scores showed it all. With just one round of the regular season remaining in the Pepsi Capital Rugby Union Competition, before the finals play, the University Piggies was throwing absolutely everything to Harlequins pack to lock its finals spot.

Under pressure Harlequins did well to remain calm and composed to contain the desperate Uni Piggies side to come out with the draw, 20 points all.

Piggies sitting third on the points leading heading into the match. Harlequins was not far behind, with just one win separating them.

Uni Piggies edges out Nova

A determined Nova team under the helm of former Australian Wallaby Aiden Toua, put up a strong contest against courageous University Piggies to maintain their winning run but the Piggies pulled off an upset win with just two points difference.

With both sides enjoying equal possession of the ball throughout the match, the Piggies were more disciplined with the ball despite some errors. They remain composed to come off the field with the win.

Their win comes down to discipline and willingness to get the job done in both ends of the field in attack and defense.

CRU embrace referee clinic

The program held from Friday, June 23rd and Monday 26th was run under World Rugby Education Program to educate referees and match officials. Facilitating the lessons was Callum Robertson from the Queensland Rugby Referee Association.

Robertson took them from rugby management particularly on how to get the best out from players, high tackle processes, framework, and set piece and then positioning as well as communication.
