Hekari women book final spot in OFC Women’s Champion League

The extra time goals by Nani Elipas and Christie Maneo granted the Hekari United a ticket to the OFC Women’s Champions League final.   

The Hekari United Women’s team took the pitch as favorites in the semifinal, and won the match fairly; but no one was expecting a tight contest for the Fijian outfit, Labasa Football Club.

OFC Women's Champions League Unveiled

Following the success of the inaugural tournament in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, last year, the competition has expanded to feature eight teams, showcasing the remarkable growth of women’s football in Oceania.

Six confirmed teams are gearing up for the tournament, while representatives from New Caledonia and Vanuatu are yet to be determined. The competition structure comprises two groups, each with four teams. Teams will clash once in the group stage, with the top two from each group advancing to the semi-finals.

Hekari thump Kiwi FC 9-0

Striker and captain, Marie Kaipu registered a hat-trick and finished with four goals to send the vocal home crowd into delight.

Komeng had made a couple of changes from the side stunned 2-1 by AS Academy Féminine in their opening match. He brought in Grace Batiy and Christable Maneo into the starting lineup for Phylis Pala and Nenny Elipas.
