National Government subsidy

K123m govt subsidy handed to education dept

PM Marape said education is a priority area for his Government.

He said the subsidy handed over should help alleviate the financial strain that has been put on parents as everyone prepares for the 2021 academic year.

PM Marape said the K123 million is the first quarter allocation of this year’s Government’s tuition fee subsidy programme.

“This is a quarter of this year’s allocation right as schools start,” he stated.

“We will be transferring funds to all the education institutions, secondary, primary and elementary schools in the country.

TFF funding inadequate say Vanimo Secondary Principal

“Government is giving us money but that money is not enough to support the needs of our school,” Kanz told Loop PNG in Vanimo.

Vanimo borders West Papua Province of Indonesia.

“We are located where it is very expensive to get (buy) PNG made products,” Kanz said.

He added that Indonesia made products is cheap to purchase but quality is another issue the school considers.

The school buys many of its rations across the land border, except the stable food, rice.
