Trukai joins relief efforts

Trukai donated one tonne of rice to over 2,000 displaced villagers affected by the recent volcanic eruption of Mt Bagana.

This donation was made through the Bougainville Charity Foundation (BCF) to support the organization’s disaster relief program.

President of BCF, Romulus Masiu, acknowledged the donations and shared that the donations will feed the affected villagers in Piva, Torokina, and Wakunai.

The eruption has prompted a collaborative effort between Bougainville and Australia to deliver much-needed assistance to affected communities.

In a commendable display of cooperation, supplies including crucial hygiene kits, water containers, and essential household items have been swiftly transported to Buka by Australian Defence Force aircraft, namely the C-27 and C-130.

ENB to coordinate AROB relief supplies

According to a media conference held in Kokopo yesterday, East New Britain Acting Provincial Administrator, Levi Mano said the province is pleased to coordinate the humanitarian activities on their shores as instructions from the national government.

Mano warned the communities in the province that they will be expecting the presence of military personnel in town as this is part of the response of the humanitarian needs plan for the PNGDF

The PNGDF Task Force team is led by Lieutenant Colonel Nicholas Henry and 10 other PNGDF officers who are stationed in Kokopo.

PM Marape affirms support for B’ville

During a poignant ceremony held in Kokopo, East New Britain, a PNG Defence Force vessel departed for Bougainville, carrying essential food and relief supplies for the thousands affected by the recent eruption of Mt Bagana.

These items were a heartfelt gift from the people of Papua New Guinea and East New Britain, symbolising the nation's solidarity with Bougainville during their time of hardship.

Prime Minister Marape expressed his gratitude to Bougainville President, Ishmael Toroamo, for permitting the PNG Defence Force vessel to enter Bougainville.
