K92 Mining awarded for community initiatives

Its village literacy program was recognised in 2022 with an award for “Outstanding Women’s Contribution in the Resource Sector”.

At the recent 17th PNG Resources and Energy Investment Conference in Sydney, K92 Mining was awarded “Outstanding Community Humanitarian Initiative” for assisting women with upskilling for their livelihoods.

The award was accepted by K92 Mining Inc.’s CEO and Director, John Lewins, and K92 Mining Ltd.’s Director, Daisy Taylor, at the Conference Gala Dinner in Sydney, Australia, on the evening of Tuesday, December 12th.

K92 Mining gifts to cancer patients

They were treated with a cake and individual gift packs to bring a smile and cheer into the lives of cancer patients.

Gender Officer, Orpah Peter who led the team during the distribution of the gifts said, “As partners with the Eastern Highlands Provincial Health Authority (EHPHA) they are committed to caring for inpatients at the hospital. And as such we can at least bring smiles to the faces of the patients”.

Markham Valley farmers reap benefits

Some farmers are now building new houses from their earnings and planning further development of their farms and SMEs.

Based on the K92 program’s principle of working with whichever community is already working and welcoming, the agribusiness program started in 2020 as on-the-job training with K92 Mining’s Sustainable Development team setting up model farms near Kainantu, at Pomasi, and near Watarais in the Markham Valley.

K100,000 for Femili PNG

The handover of the cheque took place at the Femili PNG Case Management Centre in Lae where the K92 Mining team learned more about the organisation’s operations and how survivors are assisted through its case management centres. 

Upon handing over the cheque, Philip Samar, K92 Mining Vice President for Government & Community Affairs, said: “We have been in operation for four years, and for us as a new company, we want to be able to support social issues and social agenda. 

K92 adds second drill

This is due to the company continuously intersecting high grades of gold and copper mineralisation at its exploration site in Eastern Highlands Province.

In a statement, K92 Mining says based on the ongoing success of the Kora exploration drill program, the second drill rig is now operating from an underground set up.

K92 begins underground drive to Kora deposit

The company announced that drilling and blasting has commenced and the drive to Kora will represent a continuation, from the switchback point, of the current

Irumafimpa incline drive that is accessed from the 840 Portal.

Kora is a large and high grade deposit, open for expansion in every direction and strongly mineralised at the extent of all drilling, with a current resource estimate of 4.36 million tonnes of 7.3 grams per tonne of gold (g/t Au), 35 g/t Ag (silver) and 2.23% Cu (Copper).

K92 Mining announces drilling results

The mine is currently ramping up towards commercial production.

The company says the latest results are from the ongoing campaign of close spaced underground diamond drilling which is part of a comprehensive grade control strategy commenced in September 2016.
